Walgreens Boots Alliance has launched a new digital platform, available through its mobile app and website, called Find Care Now. The service is designed to be a curated way to connect customers to a range of healthcare providers that Walgreens has partnered with, including telemedicine companies, digital-enabled house call companies, and more traditional providers.
“Find Care Now is ultimately a digital marketplace where some of the leading and most recognized names in healthcare in the US can be accessed by our consumers based on where they are and based on their healthcare needs,” Giovanni Monti, Walgreens VP and director of healthcare innovation, told Babyforyou.net.ua. “…You can have access to house call doctors, urgent care, primary care, second opinions, labs. Some of these services are colocated in our store, others are at home, and others are online, so it’s multichannel in a way.”
Seventeen partners are going to be available at the platform’s launch. The list includes just one generalist telemedicine service; MDLive, which has worked with Walgreens for the last four years.
“Through our Find Care Now initiative, Walgreens and MDLive are transforming the role of retail pharmacy in delivering convenient, affordable healthcare,” Rich Berner, chief executive officer of MDLive, said in a statement emailed to Babyforyou.net.ua. “We are proud to partner with the nation’s most visionary retail pharmacy in bringing affordable virtual care to nearly every home throughout America.”
Other digital services on the list include online dermatology service DermatologistOnCall and on-demand house call service Heal (which will be available in California, Washington D.C., and Northern Virginia).
Other than LabCorp, the rest of the list is brick and mortar providers like Advocate Health Care in Chicago, NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital in New York City, Providence St. Joseph Health in Portland, Oregon, and several more, with additional partnerships in the works, Monti says.
“It’s a curated mixture of healthcare services,” Monti said. “Depending on the type of service, it’s either neighborhood healthcare destinations or national ones. But it’s curated. It’s providers that are highly regarded and trusted by patients. And it’s truly omnichannel, both in terms of how you can access it, via the web or the app, but also we’re ensuring that in our stores, when it’s useful, our colleagues can assist customers with tapping into Find Care Now to help people address their care needs.”
The app itself automatically filters by location and also allows the patient to filter by condition or complaint. (That feature is available online and coming soon to the app, Monti said.)
Monti says the platform is a win-win — it will drive more patients and customers to the partner organizations, but he hopes the platform will also drive more traffic to Walgreens stores and apps, as well as build customer loyalty.
